The trailer starts off with a flashback of the girl when she was younger, the date is used in the corner of the screen to show that it has already happened and the shot is a bit blurry, this helps to show the viewer that it's a already taken home video. It's a mid shot of a girl shying away from the camera.

It then shows what happened in the last 3 films with people being taken away. and a few shots of what happened back then, with a green and a blue colour to show that it's in the past. The sound in these shots slowly build up to some text on the screen which fades in and then disappears.
it then goes to the present time of a close up of a girl laying in bed sorting out a video camera, which make the viewer question what has happened in the house for her to be that weary and have to video it to find out.
It then quickly goes to a shot of the kitchen and the living room and the light turning on which adds to the mystery of what's going on.
It then a shot in the kitchen in the day of the girl talking to her mum about things being weird since a boys mum went into hospital, the camera is jolty which also shows that it's still being recorded with a hand held camera. Every time the people change position or say something different there's a slight sound to indicate this.
There is then a close up of a shot of the girl talking to a boy on skype, you can see this because there's a small square of him in the bottom right corner and it then switches to a main view of him(close up). This show that the girl might be alone in the house so she's trying to feel safer this way.
The girl then shows the boy she is speaking to what the boy outside is doing, this is a very high angled shot looking down on him until he looks and the lights turn off and she moves away from the window. The editing after this is quite fast paced because she is scared of whats going to happen now. The screen then goes fuzzy and starts breaking up, this shows that she is all alone now and there's a quiet rumbling sound that's building up tension as well.You can here that the doors have been opened and then theres a shot where you can see a dark figure behing the girl and then the trailer ends with a fuzzy television connection to show some bad has happened. As she's a blonde girl she might be seen as more vulnerable to other people.
